3 Easy and Affordable Bathroom Upgrades You Can Do Yourself

When you want to make a change to your bathroom, it tends to be quite expensive. Whether you want to strip out the old shower and put a new one in, or you want to put up a new backsplash behind the sink, it’s going to cost you both time and money.

After all, you’re either making a change to the plumbing, or you’re painstakingly placing tiles and grouting them down, ensuring every one is exactly measured up where it needs to be.

But what if you could make some changes to your bathroom without having to sink so much effort into the job? It’s possible, and we’ve got 3 great ideas for mini projects you can try down below.

Set Up Some Shelves

Shelving might seem a little unusual in a bathroom, but who says you can’t have any? And you don’t even need to invest in cabinets either.

You can just set up some normal, open shelves like you would any other room in your home. It’s the easiest bit of DIY you could ever do in the bathroom!

Plus, with shelving like this, it’s far easier to keep your bathroom items in place, lined up, and clean. You just have to grab things off the shelf, quickly wipe them down, then put them back again.

Install a Water Filter

Water filters can change a lot about the way a faucet works. For one, it can soften the water coming out, if you’re dealing with super dry and rough hands no matter how much you moisturize. In this case, a shower filter for hard water is essential for maintaining your skin and haircare routine!

For another, it can help to save on water consumption year by year, by aerating the flow and only allowing half as much to come out. You’ll still feel like you’re getting the same amount when you step under the shower head, but you’ll see the difference on your water bill.

Swap Out Old Accessories

This might be a bit more of an organization hack than anything, but it’s still an upgrade that changes the way your bathroom looks and feels!

That handwash pump you keep on the sink? If it’s been a couple years since you bought it, you might want to replace it! If it’s made of plastic, you’ll want to throw it away even sooner.

That loofah brush that hangs next to the shower, but never really gets used? You don’t need to keep it there forever, with the idea that it might be necessary. Get rid of it, and then use the hook for something more useful, like a towel that lets you step out of the shower and instantly wrap up warm.

Renovating your bathroom takes time, planning, and a good budget. Making some quick and easy upgrades that have great impact takes only a fraction of the same time and price! Use the ideas above in your own bathroom space and start enjoying it!
