Interior doors are typically white, hollow doors that may or may not have a small amount of decoration on them. This is standard throughout homes because it’s basic, but those who are ready for something different will find there’s a lot they can do to upgrade the doors inside their home. Some of the top interior door upgrades every homeowner should consider include the following.

Switch to Solid Doors

It’s a good idea to consider switching from hollow to solid interior doors in Oklahoma, as these can provide numerous benefits. Most doors in homes are hollow-core because they are less expensive. However, solid-core doors can be far more durable, can feel more luxurious, and can have better insulating properties. This can help with keeping the room at the right temperature as well as helping to soundproof the room. There are tons of options for stylish, solid-core doors available today.

Opt for Sliding Doors

For a stylish new look, it may be a good idea to look into sliding doors. Instead of opening on hinges, these just slide out of the way to enter or exit a room. There are different styles available to consider, too. Sliding barn doors are popular today and can be an excellent option for any space. They hang on a rod above the doorway and slide out of the way to open. Another option would be pocket doors, which slide into the wall when they’re opened. These are an older style of sliding doors, but they still have a stylish look and can be a great option in many different types of homes. There does, however, need to be enough room for them to fit in the wall in most cases.

Upgrade the Hardware

Upgrading the hardware is an easy way to get a new look and feel without having to completely change the door itself. New hinges can come in a range of styles and colors to better match the overall design of the home. On top of that, it’s typically easy to swap out the door knobs for something that works a little better for the family. Consider the type of lock needed, if any, the style of handle preferred, and more. Most come with instructions to make switching the hardware as easy as possible when it’s time to upgrade.

Soundproof Doors

Soundproofing can be important in homes, but most hollow-core doors are going to let a lot of sound through. Along with switching to a solid-core door, there are other ways to help soundproof a door. It is a good idea to look into the different options to figure out what’s going to work best for the home and what’s going to provide the most soundproofing. On top of this, it’s possible to work on soundproofing the rest of the room to reduce the amount of sound that travels from room to room inside the home.

If you’re tired of boring interior doors, there are plenty of upgrade options to consider. Think about the overall look you want for the home, how you want the doors to look, and what may make them more functional for you. This way, you’ll know what upgrades will be a good match for your needs. Don’t forget to call in the pros to find the right doors or to have new ones installed to prevent potential issues during the installation.
