About five years ago, when we had decided to renovate our family-owned restaurant, one of the most critical choices was the selection of flooring.
Being the redesigning person, I needed something that would harmonize functionality, durability, and aesthetic attractiveness something to hold out against the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant while enhancing its ambiance.
Through extensive research, we selected Go Flooring, which is what I am so excited to share with you in detail.
Why We Chose Go Flooring
We selected Go Flooring for its exceptional durability and low maintenance, both crucial for a high-traffic environment like a restaurant. Its standout features include resistance to scratches, stains, and moisture qualities that make it ideal for areas prone to spills and heavy footfall.
The flooring also boasts a wide range of design options, allowing us to pick styles that perfectly match the rustic yet modern theme of our restaurant.
We chose a luxury vinyl plank in Golden Oak for the dining area in order to add that cozy, inviting warmth. The kitchen features durable gray stone tile design and gives a clean, professional look.
A particularly memorable evening featured an anniversary guest who said the Golden Oak finish reminded him of sitting in his grandparents’ farmhouse dining room and brought back warm memories from that evening.
Another evening, a young guest who comes in every week with his family made a comment on how the pattern of the flooring made him feel like he was dining in a fairy tale forest.
Advantages of Installing Go flooring
Moisture Resistant
The biggest challenge of a restaurant is always handling spills. Go Flooring’s waterproofing technology has really been a game-changer for us, as it really made the most of our kitchen and bar areas.
And if it happens to be a splash of water or soup that’s spilled accidentally, cleaning isn’t a pain at all and prevents stains and watermarks. So one rainy afternoon, a group of customers walked in dribbling wet across the entrance, leaving puddles all over.
Thanks to Go Flooring, quick mop-up left everything as good as new.
Durability
Our restaurant sees hundreds of guests each day, and the flooring’s scratch-resistant surface has held up remarkably well. Even in high-traffic zones, such as the entrance and dining area, it still looks as pristine as the day it was installed.
One of our faithful customers was running a bakery and was impressively satisfied by the durability; thus, they decided to use Go Flooring in their new storefront. They went on to share with us how their bakery felt more polished and professional, all thanks to the flooring.
Ease of Installation
Installation was easy with Go Flooring’s click-and-lock system. Although we engaged professionals to ensure perfection, the work was fast and flawless, thus minimizing downtime to our restaurant.
One of our friends who runs a restaurant as well came over during the installation process and was amazed at how fast the project was done; they decided to work with Go Flooring for their space as well.
Eventually, they thanked us for the recommendation and informed us that their customers often comment on the new flooring.
Comfort and Style
Built-in underlayment gives a level of comfort. The long shifts in the kitchen did not end with sore backs. Plus, wide designs allowed us to create a flowing design throughout the space.
Our decor blend of functionality with charm makes the flooring warm tones paired with our patron’s comment of how the flooring made them feel at home a very minute detail left a big impression.
Five Years Later: Our Go Flooring Review
Five years in, Go Flooring has proven to be an excellent investment. Its durability and ease of maintenance have saved us both time and money. Regular cleaning a simple routine of mopping and vacuuming keeps it looking fresh and inviting.
Even with the occasional spill of wine or oil, the flooring remains stain-free and visually appealing. The dining area maintains this warm ambiance, but it is in stark contrast to the kitchen, where gray stone tile stands unwavering under constant activity, never scratched or scuffed.
One family mentioned how the cozy ambiance of the restaurant and flooring made their family reunion a memorable one. The underlayment of the flooring has provided the subtle yet appreciated sound insulation that has helped keep the noise levels down during busy hours.
How Do We Maintain Our Go Flooring?
Keeping Go Flooring in a very busy restaurant environment proves quite surprisingly easy to maintain. We have developed an easy cleaning routine to ensure its durability and appearance.
Daily sweeping and vacuuming will help remove all dirt and debris, while weekly mopping with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner keeps the surface spotless.
For that occasional spill that leaves a stain, like a wine glass tipping over or a child spilling juice, just a quick wipe with a damp cloth will keep stains and watermarks from appearing.
We have installed mats in entryways and other high-traffic areas to minimize wear. These simple efforts have dramatically helped the flooring retain its wonderful condition.
Furthermore, our chef is quite particular about placing floor protectors under large kitchen equipment to avoid any possible damage.
And keeping it this way by just following these basic maintenance practices, the flooring has not only retained but exceeded its charm, impressing both the staff and the customers with its durability and style.
Costing of Go Flooring
Go Flooring is priced at around $4 to $6 per square foot. Although it isn’t the cheapest on the market, it’s also low-maintenance and durable.
Added to that, Go Flooring comes with a 10-year commercial warranty for delamination or wear-through when applied and maintained according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
For extra peace of mind, we purchased a policy covering accidental damage that is costing us about $1.50 per square foot annually which has proved an excellent backup to have, although we have never needed to claim on it.
Knowing that we had such cover allowed us to really concentrate on running the restaurant without wasting any time worrying about potential mishaps.
Where We Bought Go Flooring?
We bought Go Flooring from a local supplier who offered us wonderful customer service. They helped us decide on the right styles for our restaurant and provided us with professional installation services.
The product arrived nicely, in perfect condition, making the overall experience smooth and trouble-free. In one of our conversations with the supplier, they elaborated on how another owner of a nearby cafe had recently installed the same Golden Oak design, hence giving us the assurance of our choice.
Do You Need More Underlayment for Go Flooring?
Go Flooring includes an inbuilt underlayment attached; this did very well for the dining and bar section. However, over and above this, I added another layer of underlayment in the kitchen area to enhance soundproofing and comfort, especially for staff working long hours.
If noise reduction or additional cushioning is a must, then this additional underlayment makes all the difference. Our chef later commented on how this made a noticeable difference during their 12-hour shifts.
Conclusion
Five years on, this one has truly surprised us. The two styles installed, Golden Oak luxury vinyl plank and gray stone tile, have proven to be stylish, durable, and practical for our active restaurant environment.
It’s been fantastic for adding warmth in the dining area to the resilience of the kitchen. No more complications with stains and spills it’s truly been an enhanced space with flooring solutions.
Whether you re renovating a commercial space or looking for reliable flooring for your home, Go Flooring offers a combination of aesthetics and performance that s hard to beat. With proper installation and regular maintenance, it s an investment you ll appreciate for years to come.
With time, we are happy to have taken the leap with Go Flooring. It is not just part of our restaurant; it’s part of the stories and memories created here every day.
